Governance

The Bement Public Library is governed by a Board of Trustees

The Board of Library Trustees of the Bement Public Library is charged with the responsibility of the governance of the library. The Board hires a skilled Library Director who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the library. The Board meets at least once per month. These meetings are open to the public and noticed in advance.

Additionally, we are members of IHLS

Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) is a quasi-governmental, not-for-profit organization that supports the libraries of southern and parts of central Illinois. As one of the three library systems in Illinois--and one of two multi-type library systems--IHLS is the library's support partner, serving libraries of all types and the librarians, paralibrarians, and trustees that work for them.
