Our Programs

 National Fire Prevention Week is the second week of October.  Towards that end, if you come in October 1-5 and show us your library card (or get a new one), you can enter a raffle to win one of several prizes: a combination carbon monoxide/smoke detector, fire blankets, or home fire extinguishers.  A drawing will take place daily the following week for the prizes.  Winners will be announced here. One entry per person.  Your library card must be from the Bement Public Library and must be current (you can renew while you are here). 

  October is the Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) 2024 Library Crawl.  Stop by our library at the end of September and pick up your passport.  There will be prizes for the person who get the most stamps from different libraries in our consortium.  And libraries you visit will give out prizes along the way too.  More info to come as we get closer to the date. 

 We host a monthly Comic Book Club for kids on the first Saturday of the month from 10:30 to noon. Read and learn to draw and write comic books and graphic novels. 

Kids of all ages, come to to the library on  second Saturday of each month at 10:30 am for LEGO Club. 

We provide the chairs and yoga mats.

Wednesdays at 1 pm in the Library.

Every Tuesday we open the library early from 10 am until noon for a special time for Senior Citizens to enjoy the library.  

A fun group of seniors play cards and dominos, check out books, 

and laugh a lot.

You can reduce your library fines/fees by $1 per item by donating an unexpired nonperishable item to the Bement Food Pantry.  We have a collection barrel at the circulation desk. All donated items must be received by a staff person to get credit for the donation. 

Do NOT leave items in the drop box or at the door.
